The Inland Waterways Advisory Council (IWAC) is an independent statutory body created on 1 April 2007 by the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act 2006 to advise Government, navigation authorities and other interested persons on matters it considers appropriate that are relevant to Britain's inland waterways.
Its sponsoring department is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and it also receives funding from the Scottish Government.
IWAC is unable to answer general queries regarding leisure activities. For information on boating facilities, angling, mooring, fees and charges etc. and all detailed waterways topics please visit the links page to view a number of organisations who should be able to provide the information you may be looking for.
